Many agencies, especially smaller ones, usually rely on a few staffers to get the job done. Some startups depend solely on one or two people. For freelancers, they're the accounting department, sales department and the production department.
No one can get the job done better than you. You know exactly what needs to be done and how to do it.
But as your business grows, the time you'll have to do everything will shrink automatically. So what are your alternatives when you just can't do it all by yourself?
Hire Employees
Even one employee can add some valuable time to your day. A full-time employee will either be salaried or work on a set wage. However, you'll also have to offer health insurance and a paid vacation.
A part-time employee doesn't require health insurance or a paid vacation. If you need someone to answer phones or file paperwork, a part-time employee may be the most economical solution for you, depending on your business needs.
Temporary Firms
While you're searching for a permanent employee, a temporary one can help fill the gaps. Consider this option if you have certain times of the year where business is busier than usual as well. Most temporary employment agencies only offer talent with secretarial skills unless you choose a specialized firm.
Independent Contractors/Freelancers
There are plenty of services available to you through independent contractors or freelancers. One person may offer graphic design services so you don't have to design your newsletter anymore. Someone else may be available to write your newsletter's content. Another can stuff your completed newsletter into envelopes.
Look at how many hours you just saved. And you didn't have to pay employee benefits either.
Ask Your Family and Friends
Most people swear off using the help of their friends and family. Many great relationships have been spoiled when the line between friend and business associate is muddied.
Others have found loved ones the best people to work with.
If you're wary of asking those close to you to pitch in, make a simple rule with yourself: only use your friends and family when you're in desperate need. Explore your options and you'll be able to better manage your business without wasting time on the trivial tasks.
